Why should you use Twitter?
A few months ago I wrote a blog on what kind of information you should and shouldn’t be tweeting. In this edition of my blog I would like to tell you why you should be on Twitter and regularly tweeting.
At the Google event I attended a few weeks ago I heard a quote that has stuck with me ever since, “share your knowledge, sell your expertise”. This quote is especially relevant to Twitter. As a micro blogging social media site, you can tweet useful industry information. Take Appletree for example, we tweet roughly 12 up to date marketing tips a day. By tweeting this useful information we show our potential clients that we have good knowledge on marketing, this instills confidence.
Twitter is a brilliant way of connecting with your clients. People are very quick to use social media to critique a product or service, so you can use it to gain feedback on one of your own services. This also works the other way, if they love your product or service and tell people about it via Twitter then you are gaining yourself some free publicity. Another client engagement tool is asking a question in a tweet. If you want to conduct market research, Twitter can really help you out and the best thing is, it only costs your time to gain this information.
Twitter can be a very valuable resource to find out what people think of your clients. What are people saying about them? Are they having meetings with other businesses? Twitter is very useful to subtly keep an eye on your competition. If your competition is planning on releasing a similar product or service to you then how is your business going to react?
If you are worried about what you should be tweeting, or worried that you don’t have the time to be tweeting then fear not. You can use a tweet scheduling service. These are usually free and will allow your twitter account to regularly tweet even when you’re not in the office. If you would like marketing advice or useful tips on how to promote your business then log onto twitter and follow the Appletree.
