Planning should always involve a pub!
A lot of my time for Appletree is spent planning. We plan our clients marketing activity with them, then integrate it with their overall marketing strategy and deliver for them. Simple.
We know it works for them as we measure it, and also because we always plan Appletree’s marketing as if it were a client. Our marketing schedule covers around 20 activities: blogs, newsletters, videos, workshops, networking. In order to integrate all these activities, we plan ahead a monthly focus on one of our services, then use the tools to promote that service. At the beginning of the year we held our planning meeting in a local pub, away from the office, the phone and emails. The pub is how (I think) a pub should be: fire roaring, low ceilings, choice of draft ales, and proper food portions! As nice as the lunch was, the act of getting away from the office was crucial to the success of the meeting.
At the end of the meeting we had produced a plan for the next quarter, with topics for all our blogs, newsletters and social media. We’ve booked 3 marketing planning workshops for the year, and will promote them all in good time as it’s in the schedule!
So we left the pub feeling very satisfied, not only from the food, but from the plan in our hand too.
If you want to kick-start your planning, why don’t you book a place at our next marketing planning workshop. Here’s the details and how to book, hope to see you there!
