LinkedIn changes for better or worse?
Towards the end of last year social networking site LinkedIn made some changes that brought on some mixed feedback. The changes left users confused as to why features had been removed but at the same time leaving users impressed with its new features.
One of the biggest mistakes I personally feel LinkedIn have made was the removal of LinkedIn events. This removal has been highly criticised by social media experts and users alike. Very similar to a Facebook event (which I’m sure you are aware of), a LinkedIn event was a great tool to invite your client to an event you are holding or wanting to promote. Through LinkedIn events you could invite your connections to the event and get a good guidance to numbers attending. Like many other users I am sad to the see the event feature lost. If you want to share or promote an event then my recommendation is to create an online one and share it through your company or personal profile.
A positive feature change is content seems to be of a lot more value now. Relevant content to the specific user will now appear at the top of their stream. Businesses can now target their content more to engage with their audience. Another positive change is the new layout profiles have been given. Users now have a much bigger profile picture with a much improved summary box. Previously the summary box based on the user had far too much information, now it is a lot more defined and with key information – this is a benefit to users and employers as it highlights job role and business the user works for.
