In the A – Z of Marketing N is for… (printed) Newsletters
With the popularity of the internet at an all time high, email newsletters appear to be the most popular form of newsletter to use, which means that almost everyone is using them. At Appletree we know the importance of standing out from the crowd and one way of doing this is by using printed newsletters in your marketing.
How many email newsletters do you receive in your inbox every day? How often do you think “Do I really want to read this?” If you?re anything like me scrolling through the flurry of email newsletters every week then the answer is “NO.”
Now think about how often you receive a brightly coloured, hand written envelope through the post. After throwing away the junk and take-away menus the first thing you want to do is open the mail and see what’s inside. Many businesses forget about the power behind printed newsletters. Email newsletters are less expensive to produce and much easier to track – but printed newsletters have some great advantages too:
1. Much more reliable than email, printed newsletters are never blocked or sent to the spam folder. You can be sure that they will arrive at their destination and possibly be opened on the day of delivery.
2. People see their value much more than email newsletters. Today, fewer and fewer businesses are willing or able to invest the time and effort into printing a newsletter, yet recipients are much more likely to appreciate the time and investments made in sending a great printed newsletter.
3. Print newsletters have a much longer shelf life than email. They’re much more likely to be passed around to family and friends or kept on a notice board for future reference.
4. The convenience of reading a printed newsletter is much greater than an email version, being able to be read at the readers own pace and not needing to go online, important or interesting information can also be highlighted or underlined the reader.
Printed newsletters are a fantastic part of marketing and as not every business has the time or resources to provide one, they can help your business stand out and impress customers. If you don’t use printed newsletters, maybe you should think about starting one.
Do you use printed newsletters? How do they work for you?
