Growing, Growing … Gone!?
Many years ago, when I was first getting to grips with running my business, I was referred to Sue, who ran a training company. She travelled the world, for the most part showing women how to be more assertive. She teaches them the importance of focusing on themselves and looking after Number One. She encourages them to develop themselves and their skills, so they can move on in their businesses and their careers. She teaches them the power of positivity and optimism.
Sue has been inspiring me with her work, since we first met, back in 2006. She challenges me, gets me excited about new opportunities in my business and stretches me. And I’m not even one of her clients! That’s just who Sue is – she energises everyone with whom she comes into contact.
The most recent project that Sue and I have been working on, for her marketing, is her website. We launched a brand new one for her new training business, a few years ago. Before we created the new site, Sue and I spent a day together, working on her Marketing Strategy. This showed us that Growth is the strategy that makes her business stand out. This has helped us to steer Sue’s marketing in the right direction, ever since.
This year we decided to update the website content, so the first thing I did was look at the language of Growth. You can see the language I’m talking out, and also find out which strategy is the one for you here, with this simple test. See if you can work out which of the colours/lists relates to Growth!
Armed with the best words – the emotions that Sue’s clients want to feel when they work with her – I set about simplifying the home page of her site. The opening lines used to say this:
“Improve retention with engaging training, to develop happy managers and confident staff who care about your organisation’s success.”
This is what Sue does, but does it reach your emotions? Do you feel any connection with her?
Here’s what the home page now says:
“Empowered Excited Energised
Strengthen and stretch your staff and your skills”
It’s very different and it speaks directly to the emotions of Sue’s clients. You can see Sue’s gorgeous website and find out more about how she helps her clients to grow here. This is the power of knowing which #StandOut Strategy is the one that will make your business stand out. Take the Test and I’ll send you the results, so you can see which strategy, and therefore which language to use, to make your marketing much more efficient and cost effective.
Is Growth the strategy that will make your business stand out this year?
