Find time to do your marketing

Chantal

Running a busy marketing agency means that there?s often one thing that doesn?t get as much attention at it deserves ? our own marketing! I have a book to write, two or three blog posts a week to compose, lots of tweets to plan and a monthly email newsletter to create. And that?s just the writing side of things! Client work usually takes precedence and sometimes the other writing gets done at the last minute. Until now, that is. I?ve decided to spend the first hour of every day just writing. No emails, no phone calls and no other people ? just me and a laptop!

The result is that on Friday morning I wrote three blog posts; and in just two morning sessions I finished the proposal for my book, so it?s ready for my writing coach to look at, before I send it to a few publishers; and this morning I?ve had fun tweeting!

If you run a busy, successful business, you may find that often, your client work has to come first. After all, that what brings in the money. And yet, if you don?t find time to do your marketing, your pipeline of enquiries and new business could dry up. To avoid the ups and downs of the ?feast and famine? syndrome, give yourself the time and space you need to do your marketing. Even if that means taking yourself away from your office ? or wherever you usually work ? to get the peace and quiet you need. Turn off all distractions for a while and just see how much you can achieve!
