Experience Business
Appletree has been helping to organise a business exhibition, Experience Business next month. The event will take place on October 10th at The Springs Hotel in Wallingford. Everyone is welcome to attend the free event. As we are nearing the event I would like to share with you what I have been doing to help organise this event. I have been working on this event since it launched in June this year. It’s my first event and I must say I had not anticipated how much work is involved in organising an event.
The organisation team meet every 4 weeks to plan the event in October. I attend these meetings and am kept in the loop. Whilst attending these meetings I take notes for the meeting and list of activities that need to be completed.
Our website has been created as part of a sponsorship deal. I was nominated by the group to communicate with the web designer. Once we had established the design, the website was built and then signed off by the team. Matt – our designer gave me a lesson on how to use the backend of the website. Once I had learnt how to use the CMS (Content Management System) I was able to upload any updates to our website. I regularly upload updates and new information to our website.
We brainstormed ideas on how we can increase the hits on the Experience Business website. My business idea was to create videos to upload to YouTube, then embed on the website. As my previous background is photography and videography I offered to shoot and edit the videos. The videos are about the event, why sponsor it and why we are supporting our local charity. Once I had uploaded the videos to YouTube I gave them lots of relevant tags and keywords to increase the views.
After the website was created we had to create a booking system for our visitors. I was aware of a website that could fulfill our need. I set us up an account with Eventbrite and linked our website to the eventbrite page. Since creating this page we have had quite a lot of bookings and found the system very useful, it gathers enough information for us and it doesn’t cost us anything to use.
This is just a very brief list of some of tasks that I have completed. I also write tweets for our Twitter account, manage the events social media, deal with any enquires and much much more.
The event is only a few weeks away and I’m pretty excited about it. I look forward to seeing you on the 10th at The Springs Hotel, in Wallingford. If you have questions about the event then please contact me or check the Experience Website.
