Do you need to be on LinkedIn?

Facebook pages, gaining  Twitter followers, having hangouts on Google+, videos on YouTube. With the growing list of social media websites it’s hard to keep up to date and know which ones are important and gain value to your business. Is it worth having a LinkedIn profile and company page?

To be blunt, yes is the answer. Depending on what you want to achieve LinkedIn can be an extremely powerful tool. If your business is reliant on meeting new people and working with other professionals then LinkedIn can help as a marketing activity. You can ‘connect’ with people that you have or want to work with and engage with them through various methods. Connecting through LinkedIn is a far more personal marketing approach and allows your contacts to respond to you as and when is best for them.

LinkedIn can be a great recruitment tool and is being used more and more by businesses as we are seeing more jobs posted to LinkedIn each day. Even if you have a job advertised elsewhere  you can  check if any applicants have a LinkedIn page, if they do check it out and review through what business information that is listed.  You can also view recommendations or endorsements any other business professionals may have left on the specific person (you can also use endorsements and recommendations to help you get work.)

If you have questions that you want answered by business professionals then LinkedIn is the place to be as you can get some valuable responses and see which industry  everyone that took part is from. You can also ask advice from other business leaders in and out of your industry, doing this also keeps you up to date with the latest trends.

There are a lot more benefits to using LinkedIn, so make sure that you read the following blog on Friday as Debbie will be telling you about some of the successful LinkedIn stories that we’ve had. As per usual though, If you have any questions regarding LinkedIn, or you would just like some advice on how to use it then please send me an email.
