Bigger, Better, Brand New Bubbles!
In my travels around the world, I get to speak to many different audiences, work with an amazing mix of people and meet some very talented, successful individuals. They keep me wondering about the marketing that they do, to promote their businesses. They have helped me to develop the StandOut Strategies; they have challenged me; and they have kept me entertained.
In this article, let me introduce you to someone, who, I believe, has beautifully used the StandOut Strategy of Significance to become one of the best in the world at what she does. She is certainly the best one in the whole of Singapore!
What on Earth is a Bubbleologist?!
Meet CJ Bubble Girl! Originally from the UK, she’s lived in Singapore for over 25 years. She set up a business entertaining kids at birthday parties. She’s always loved dressing up in crazy costumes and she is so talented that she always made her own. Need a fairy princess, a Hawaiian mermaid or a purple dinosaur to keep your kids happy for a couple of hours, at a birthday party? CJ was your girl. She would bring the decorations and the games, to get the party going. She was great at giving parents a few hours off, while their little darlings were kept very happy with crafts and plenty of fun.
Most of CJ’s clients – the parents – had two aims. Firstly, help the birthday girl or boy feel like the most important person on the planet. Secondly, make the rest of the family or neighbours jealous of the party they’d just witnessed!
Kids parties lead to CJ being asked to perform at corporate days out and business parties. She carried on helping her clients to feel like the most important people in Singapore. And then she discovered bubbles! If you ask CJ what she does today, she’ll tell you that she’s a Bubbleologist! This means that she creates bubbles to entertain children, adults, grandparents, crowds and Formula One fans! She is in high demand across the island of Singapore. She has developed bubble products that she sells around the world; she speaks and performs across the globe.
In May 2024 I was lucky enough to watch CJ in action, when she was performing in a local park in Singapore, on a Sunday morning. Aside from being brilliant with bubbles, CJ is also brilliant at helping everyone – and I mean everyone – in a crowd, to feel special. She talks to the people who gather to watch her perform, whether they are 3, 53 or 83. I watched small children flock to her bubbles and then ask their parents for money to put into CJ’s tip jar. I watched grandparents hold up their precious grandchildren, so they could reach the bubbles that CJ seemed to make especially for them. I watched many of those grandparents make donations via her clever QR code, too!
The StandOut Strategy of Significance is about helping your clients to feel special – to feel heard, listened to, admired, appreciated and respected. This is exactly how CJ’s clients feel, when they work with her. She might complain to me about how demanding they are, but she always pulls out all the stops, to create the best event for them.
